As part of the networking activity among European projects, CHIMERA team has come into contact with ARIMEDA, coordinated by the Aragon Agrifood Research and Technology Center (CITA). The Life project aims at obtaining a significant reduction volatilization of ammonia when the slurry is applied in cultivated fields as an organic fertilizer. The main objective of the project is to demonstrate that in Mediterranean agriculture the application of the liquid fraction of slurry and digestate, diluted as fertilizer through innovative irrigation systems with pins and surface or underground drip, constitutes effective techniques to reduce ammonia emissions into the atmosphere. Among the partners of ARIMEDA, the University of Milan, for the scientific and technical supervision of the project; the design, monitoring and evaluation of the techniques demonstrated with digestate and the validation of the reduction of ammonia emissions with the techniques applied in Aragón.
