New challenge for CHIMERA which has participated in the open innovation challenge “Circular economy and environmental sustainability in the poultry supply chain” competition. Launched by the Lazio Region, Lazio Innova, Amadori, a leading group in the Italian poultry sector, Almacube, incubator and innovative hub of the University of Bologna and Confindustria Emilia Area Centro, with the technical partner Digital Magics, the call for innovation aims to find solutions that enhance waste, waste management and the use of innovative raw materials in the breeding phases. The goal is the search for innovative solutions throughout the supply chain – from feed production to breeding, from food processing to distribution – with a view to green economy, energy saving and zero impact. The participating projects, such as CHIMERA, had to envisage an increasingly circular and regenerative model in all stages of production, through the reduction and / or enhancement of processing waste, waste management that uses the levers of reuse and recycling and the ” implementation of production processes that require a limited use of virgin materials or innovative raw materials, with the aim of increasing environmental sustainability in the production of feed, while ensuring a healthy and balanced feeding of animals.
